1.walk & talk

The interviewees walked in a route of their choice while filming the street and talking about changes in their lives and on the street due to COVID-19. Audio and video data was recorded to the cloud via Zoom in real-time

The route was captured using a GPS app with the interviewee’s permission. GPS logging data from the interviewees mobile phones was sent post-facto to the remote interviewer.

3.content analysis

The walkie-talkie interview protocol gave us three layers of information: (1) the video, (2) the audio and transcript , and (3) the route . We analyzed these three layers of information and identified recurring themes.

5.visualization

We used the Mapbox Scrollytelling API, which is designed to create web-based digital multimedia “stories” that unfold as a viewer scrolls through the webpage.

4.recurring themes

We divide the themes into Changes in the sidewalk, and Changes in lifestyle.
